General Rules of Discipline

Discipline is the foundation of success at Thanthai Periyar Evera Matriculation School. Students are expected to uphold the school’s values of respect, punctuality, and responsibility in all their actions.

  • Students must maintain decorum, good manners, and respect toward teachers, elders, and fellow students.
  • Every student should wear the prescribed school uniform neatly and attend school regularly.
  • Students must reach school on time and attend the morning assembly without fail.
  • Late arrival or repeated absence without valid reason will invite disciplinary action.
  • Students must take care of school property and maintain cleanliness in classrooms and campus.
  • Chewing gum, mobile phones, fancy items, or ornaments are strictly prohibited.
  • Students should maintain silence in classrooms and corridors during instructional hours.
  • Politeness and good conduct are expected inside and outside the school premises.
  • Students must participate actively in school functions, cultural events, and co-curricular activities.
  • Any act of disobedience, bullying, or misuse of school property will result in strict disciplinary measures.

Visiting Hours

Parents are welcome to meet teachers or school authorities during the following hours:

  • Principal / Correspondent: 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (on working days)
  • Teachers: 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (after school hours, with prior appointment)

Parents are not permitted to enter classrooms or meet teachers during instructional hours to avoid disturbance in teaching. For any urgent communication, parents may contact the school office.

Attendance & Leave Policy

Regular attendance ensures consistent learning and academic progress. Parents are requested to cooperate in maintaining their child’s attendance.

  • Students must maintain at least 90% attendance during the academic year.
  • Attendance is compulsory on reopening days, before and after vacations or examinations.
  • Leave of absence must be applied in writing by the parent or guardian, stating valid reasons.
  • In case of medical leave exceeding three days, a doctor’s certificate must be submitted.
  • Students who remain absent for 10 consecutive working days without intimation may have their names removed from the rolls.
  • No student will be permitted to leave the school during school hours without written permission from the Principal.
  • Attendance during national festivals, special celebrations, and examinations is mandatory.

Homework Schedule (Morning & Evening Routine)

Homework and self-study habits are integral to a child’s academic growth.

  • Homework is assigned daily and must be completed neatly and punctually.
  • Parents should ensure that their child devotes at least one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening to revise lessons.
  • Students must bring completed homework and assignments regularly.
  • Late submission of homework without a valid reason will lead to loss of marks or disciplinary action.
  • Parents are advised to check the school diary daily for homework and teacher remarks.
  • Teachers may assign project work, reading, or oral activities to encourage independent learning.
  • Repeated negligence in homework will be reported to the Principal for appropriate action.

Code of Conduct for Students

  • Always greet teachers, elders, and visitors with respect.
  • Be honest, polite, and helpful to others at all times.
  • Stand up and wish teachers or guests when they enter or leave the classroom.
  • Do not use foul language, teasing, or rough play inside or outside the school.
  • Maintain neat personal appearance — clean uniform, polished shoes, and proper haircut.
  • Take care of books, notebooks, and belongings; label them properly.
  • Keep classrooms, corridors, and school premises clean and litter-free.
  • Always obey the class teacher and school authorities without argument.
  • Be punctual for classes, activities, and assemblies.
  • Always remember that you represent your school — behave in a manner that brings pride to your institution.

School Timings

School Working Days: Monday to Friday (and selected Saturdays for special activities)

School Hours:
  • LKG & UKG: 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Classes I to VIII: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Lunch Break: 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Morning Assembly: 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (Attendance compulsory)

Students must reach school at least 10 minutes before the assembly. Late arrivals beyond 9:00 a.m. will not be allowed to enter the class without valid reason.

Note to Parents

The cooperation of parents is vital to the overall growth and discipline of their children. The school believes in a strong parent-teacher partnership.

  • Parents are requested to ensure their children attend school regularly and punctually.
  • Please check the school diary daily for homework, teacher notes, and circulars.
  • Do not criticize teachers or school rules in front of children. If you have concerns, meet the school authorities directly.
  • Ensure that students do not bring mobile phones, cash, or valuables to school.
  • Encourage your child to read books, develop hobbies, and follow a disciplined routine.
  • Kindly attend all Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and cooperate in tracking your child’s progress.
  • Inform the school immediately if there is any change in address or contact number.
  • Provide healthy food in the lunch box and discourage junk food.
  • Parents are encouraged to motivate children to participate in cultural, academic, and sports activities.
  • The school expects mutual respect, support, and timely communication from parents to ensure every child’s success.
